Beneath the Wings of the Dragonfly
Neil Nettles
Lewiston, MI

My medium is steel. It is one of the strongest, most versatile materials available, lending itself to both the practical, industrial application and the delicate artistic creation.

The strength and earthiness of steel used to depict the delicate, nearly transparent wings of the dragonfly creates a tension between material and image that ignites the imagination. This tension is further enhanced by the brute size of the sculpture. The multi-color effect of the power coating brings it all to life.
