I have developed my art practice from a personal history of experimentation with glass as an art medium. Influenced by the forms of nature, my current work is represented by the manipulation of common glass bottles and other found objects that form a reference to American culture and consumerism. They provide a familiar visual mix-in, to a new conceptual context. Shapes, raised lettering and logos help us identify their origin. These objects become abstract elements in my sculpture, transcending their original purpose and morphing into new forms while hinting at their original purpose. Light refraction and reflection play an important role in my work, creating new pseudo elements that form on nearby surfaces.
