Self Reflection
Brandon Mitchell-Kiss
Roscommon, MI

I am 18 years old, and I create art because It’s the best way I know how to express my thoughts. I’ve been drawing since I was in 8th grade. I hope to one day inspire others just like Cj Hendry and Devon Rodriguez inspired me.

Self Reflection depicts a pug, Lucy, staring into the face of a blue metallic balloon dog. This work was created to express the importance of family over material objects. When calling a dogs name, they respond with tilting their heads and with a glance of love. On the other hand, a personal possession will never compare. No house, car, clothes, novelty , or attention to detail will ever fill the void of family. The balloon dog reminds us all that possession are just reflections of oneself, and that family is irreplaceable.

This artwork was created with colored pencil, alcohol marker, and acrylic airbrush paint.
