As a career forester and an avid quilter, fiber arts has allowed me to combine my love of nature with my passion for quilting, beading, and embroidery. Natural scenes and wildlife provide fascinating combinations of texture and color well suited for emulation with fabric, fibers, and beads. I am constantly learning from each piece I make and inspired to improve upon the next piece.

I love quilting nature scenes and I wanted to use some fabric I had hand dyed. The colors were perfect for a yellow coneflower. The piece is made with fusible applique using batik and hand dyed fabrics and then thread painted and quilted using a sewing machine. The flower has painted accents and the flower seeds are hand beaded. The wall hanging is displayed on a natural stick collected from the woods and embellished with two handmade polymer clay dragonflies.
