"Grand Passage" is a unique painting technique that incorporates acrylic and oil paint on a sheet of brass. When the painting is nearly complete, the paint is ground away with pneumatic and electric grinders in strategic places to reveal polished brass. The shimmering brass animates the painting, creating the illusion of moving waves and clouds as the viewer interacts with the piece. The painting is coated with automotive clear-coat, adding depth to the colors as well as making it waterproof, suitable for indoor or outdoor display. Image was painted of a stormy November at Grand Haven from a photograph used with permission of photographer Isaac Polanski.
