Lake Sturgeon
Kate Ford
Rochester Hills, MI

I have been a batik artist for over 30 yrs. I work in this medium because I love the uncertainty of it--the wax is very fluid and somewhat uncontrollable and the dying methods I use are never duplicated. My subject matter is the natural world, with a special concentration on Michigan flora and fauna. I chose the sturgeon because it is a very special species that we need to protect.
